Restorative Justice Week November 15 to 22, 2009

November 15 to 22, 2009 is Restorative Justice Week with this year's theme as "Communities Responding to Human Needs". Last year, 185 municipalities proclaimed Restorative Justice Week. This year, British Columbia will proclaim Restorative Justice week for the first time. With a tradition of community-based pioneering efforts in RJ across the province, it is no wonder that B.C. is recognized nationally and internationally for its leadership and innovation in this area.

In addition, Victim Services and Crime Prevention Division is pleased to be release a new resource on RJ. The resource, "Help Starts Here: Information on Restorative Justice", will be added to the series of Help Starts Here information sheets designed to provide information and guidance to victims of crime in B.C. The new resource is attached in this message and will also be available on our website at http://www.pssg.gov.bc.ca/crimeprevention/. Please circulate widely to your networks.

For more information, please contact the Victim Services and Crime Prevention Division at 604 660-5199 and ask to speak to the Restorative Justice Coordinator.
