EARTH HOUR – EVERY HOUR

GIBSONS RECYCLING DEPOT
Educational Outreach Program
Mar. 2009 Edition

Earth Hour

At 8:30 pm. On March 28, turn off your lights for just one hour – EARTH HOUR. Join millions of people around the earth in a unified message that we all care about our planet. Show it is possible to take action by working together on climate change.

Climate change is the biggest environmental threat to our planet and the number one concern for Canadians. Turning off your lights is a simple way to show that you can be part of the solution.

EARTH HOUR shows that together our small actions can make a big difference to climate change. Last year, 10 million Canadians turned off their lights.

EATH HOUR is both a symbolic event and a powerful movement about making a difference. Remember big, small, old, young…. We all have the power to create positive change!

On Saturday March 28 at 8:30 pm, turn off the lights for one hour.

Why not continue taking steps to reduce your footprint by doing simple actions that make a difference.

10 Simple Actions

  1. turn down your thermostat
  2. reduce the waste you create
  3. become an environmentally conscious consumer
  4. plant a garden
  5. pick up litter
  6. turn off lights, computers and televisions when not in use
  7. support local business and shop locally
  8. walk or bike instead of driving
  9. continue to add more and more simple positive actions to your life
