Gospel Rock Wildlife Sightings

By Brian K Sadler
5/9/2010 9:06:00 AM

At 0715 this morning, Sunday 09 May, I observed a large Black Bear -- 250 to 350 lbs -- on Bayview Hts Road. The bear had just emerged from a neighbour's front garden on to the road, about 50 feet from my position. Having just returned from the morning dog-walk, my dogs' barking caused the bear to avoid any confrontation: and, it ambled to the end of the cul de sac and then up the trail towards Gospel Rock.
Coincidentally, one of my neighbours reported yesterday, Saturday 08 May, that a jogger had sighted a large Cougar on the Gospel Rock trail system.
Those who frequent Gospel Rock, or have children who do, should take note.
