Less then 2 months till snow comes Alert / Warning Saturday, September 01, 2007
Enviro Canada website is acting up so new Sechelt listing in Olympic summary has disapeared. They are working on the problem and hope that sechelt weather station will be used for our local forecast by October. There are many mountain sites listed under Olympic Summary, like Cypress bowls, Whistler 3 listings, Callahan Valley, and Blackcomb etc. Soon the temps up top will be dropping and frost may be around at night in higher elavations. Take care have fun. Rain rain go away come back as snow another day, Up top that is.

McNair FSR and Trail to Cabin Current Conditions Sunday, September 02, 2007
McNair Creek FSR has been deactivated again and is 4wd only. The rougher portion beyond the dam to the trailhead is still OK to drive but you now have to park a few 100m before the trailhead (area cleared out) because a debris slide crosses the road. In fact, 4 other large slides have come down at various places along the trail. The trail is also getting very overgrown and combined with negotiating the slide areas is not as quick and pleasant a trip as it once was.

Link for Sechelt Weather Alert / Warning Wednesday, September 05, 2007
Could you please provide an internet link for the new weather station in Sechelt. I cannot find it on the Olympic site.
If you are going up to Dakota you might be best to go up B&K road and drive across from Bowl area to Lot A then go up to ridge. Lots of Logging trucks that are going faster then 30kmph. Far safer useing B&K then the cross over road.

I had heard there won' t be a plowed road this year Alert / Warning Saturday, September 08, 2007
I was told that there will not be any snow plowing this year. I guess we will have to have 4x4s and chains. Does anyone know what is going on up at Dakota ridge. Who runs it. Why are there trails and a building if there is no plowing planned for this year. Who do we call to complain about it.

SCRD has taken over Dakota Ridge Alert / Warning Tuesday, September 11, 2007
Dakota Ridge is now in the hands of the SCRD - this is where you should direct comments/concerns. The road plowing issue is the usual who pays and how. Rumour has it that the road will be plowed this winter but only to the usual spot (bridge) and not up to the hut. Even when the road is plowed we will still need 4wd and chains - the road would have to be paved to be 2wd in the winter.

New Weather Station working great Alert / Warning Tuesday, September 11, 2007
The new Sechelt weather station is giving great data. There seems to be 5 drgres differance between pt Atkinson and Sechelt airport. They are hoping by end of Sept the main Sechelt weather page will be using Sechelt airport Data instead of Point Atkinson. This should lead to better weather forecasts. There are also different mountain readings under Olympic Summary along with Sechelt there is Cypress Bowls and Whistler etc. Only about 1 month till snow may show up in the hills. Get those skis and snow shoes dusted off. Think we should organize a snow fest for Nov. Just like use to in the Bowl.
