So is there any news on Dakota Ridge Monday, September 01, 2008
What can we expect this year, I had heard there will be cross country ski lessons but have not heard or seen anything yet. Looked at SCRD website for Dakota Ridge it has info for last year. You would think the RD would update there website soon. Good news about road work being started but can we be sure the road will be driveable to the top.

What happened to Dakota Club Sunday, September 07, 2008
What happened to the Dakota winter rec soc are they not the ones who got the hill started. There website had great info and pics but has been gone for some time. Is the Ridge going to end up like the Dakota Bowl. Is there a ski club that is helping the RD run things or what.

Dakota road not to be finished this year Sunday, September 14, 2008
Just heard that the road will not be finished this year. There is talk road will only be open to the Gate. Better then nothing but where are we going to park. This is a real set back for the ski area. Is the road not a road past the gate. I seem to remember that road above gate was in good shape.

Surely we will be able to drive to Top of Dakota Alert / Warning Monday, September 15, 2008
You mean we can drive up all these other logging roads in winter but won't be able to drive to parking lot at ski area. What is going on, they had logging trucks hauling logs out of there years ago. So it is narrow, the whole road is narrow. Why was there a big parking lot and buildings put up there if we can not drive to it all. I have driven to the Tet parking lot in winter and it is far worse. We do not expect a 2 wheel drive road this year just let us drive to Quanset area. This getting to be a GONG show. Lets get the dam ski area going. Maybe our local elections are a good time to make a change in Local Govt.

pics from Panther Peak route Alert / Warning Wednesday, September 17, 2008
In case anyone's tired of fretting about Dakota Ridge and Grey Creek access roads, here are some pics taken from the route up Panther following the main west drainage accessed from McNair FSR and trail. Recent work party brushed out road from McNair micro hydro project to McNair Creek crossing just below McNair Lake. Though by no means a 'walk in the park' this access is much more pleasant than it has been in the last 2 years. It's still VERY ROUGH and nothing at all like the road/trails via Grey Creek. McNair Creek is running high and can be tricky to cross if you're heading to cabin and beyond. Parts of trail are wet and muddy, and in McNair meadow before cabin it's hard to avoid a soaker. Panther Peak route is mostly flagged directly up from creek crossing to Upper McNair Lake, but requires route finding experience beyond (not flagged). High clearance 4wd needed and paint job will likely be scratched above dam.
