avalanche Alert / Warning Tuesday, March 01, 2011
as we were grooming today, I started 2 small and benign slides. There is very little cohesion between the base and the 20cm that felled on sunday. The same lack of cohesion is present between sunday's and monday's snow fall. Is is very easy to trigger a 30cm slab slide on slope over 20%. Be very carefull out there until it settle more!

Trip to Batchelor Monday Current Conditions Monday, March 07, 2011
We went up to the Tet today, great conditons. The road was in good shape, snow covered but no chains required. We were in an awd with snow tires, no slipping at all going up or down. -3 at the parking lot. Trails were in good condition, packed and easy going for snowshoeing. It was a beautiful, sunny day and we were peeling off layers on the way up, finished in two t-shirts. If you have the time, get up there- it's spectacular! Favour request: when reporting road conditions please try to be accurate. Several times this season I have passed on going up because of 'road very icy, must have 4x4 and use chains' type of reporting, only to hear from people who were up that the roads were great, no chains needed if you have decent tires. It dilutes the actual reports that are accurately suggesting caution ie chain use. Kinda like the boy who cried wolf... Thanks, and get out there!

DR warming up Current Conditions Wednesday, March 09, 2011
I was just up at Dakota Ridge at noon, and it was 1C and mixed snow and rain. The groomer had just groomed the eastern side but was broken down. I don't know if it'll be fixed in time to groom the rest for tonight's ski. Unfortunately the temperature was warming up, and the tracks were soft as is. Pray for cold!

Tet Road has ice under slush 4x4 chains Current Conditions Saturday, March 12, 2011
Warm weather has made for slush and ice on Tet road. Thanks to a report that I was crying Wolf about the need for 4x4 and chains and that they drove up fine with out. Some folks from Vancouver drove up in a 2 wheel drive car with chains and got stuck on hill and broke chains. Despite what some people think the road has a heavy layer of ice under compact snow and slush. The Unimog with chains on and lock up barely made it to top to plow. Could not plow the last 400 ft as snow is wet and heavy with ice under it. There is only the 1 group of 5 in the tet as of 10am.

Tet road had 10 inches new snow Current Conditions Saturday, March 19, 2011
Road is plowed but narrow in spots as snow banks are high and compact snow and ice on upper parts. 2 vehicles are parked just below parking lot almost blocked plow from going up. Please make sure you are parked well off the road as plow is 12 ft wide. Looks like 3 groups were up last night and 1 group came up this morning. Things are warming up and snow on lower part of road melting. Watch for cross ditches and potholes. Suggest 4x4 and chains for last km. Already had a pick up truck sliding backwards down hill this morning. By chaining up and spreading your tracks out it makes it easier to plow road and keep it open. Take shovels and dig yourself a parking spot instead of parking on road.

Mar.19-20/2011 Current Conditions Monday, March 21, 2011
Mary and I had a fabulous time at the Edwards and McNair huts this weekend. Our Front Wheel Drive van made it to within 300 vertical feet of the pkg lot without having to put our chains on, we skinned up from there. 12inches of new snow Sat morn made for a long slog to McNair hut. The warm snow and suncrust made for an even tougher slog up Panther Pk. and back...to the van to make it a 12 hour odyssey Sunday. But the weather was fantastic, the terrain amazing, the huts stupendous (we had both huts to ourself!).Our back yard is amazing....we have our place at the bottom of the hill in Tuwanek...once we're there full time you guys will see lots more of us. Thanks TOC, thanks Snow Man, see you around. Cheers, Don

Great report from Tet thanks Don and Mary Current Conditions Monday, March 21, 2011
Great picture you can share and post pics from Tet at Flickr.com search for Tetrahedron outdoor club some 200 pics there. It was hard to belive so much new snow fell. It is good to get a membership in the Tet Outdoor club many club events and get to meet others for trips. McNair must have had tons of snow on it. recent pics posted by work party showed cabin almost buried. It is good to post road and trail info here after you come down it helps others plan trips and gives me info to plow the road.

Nice snowshoeing on the trail to Edwards on Sunday morning. Road in very fine shape: made it to the parking lot easily in 4 WD pickup, no chains (thanks to suberb plow work...). Vistas gorgeous: snow almost perfect: sun, well, there was tons of it, so what else need be said.

Tet road in good shape Current Conditions Thursday, March 24, 2011
Road is down to gravel most of the way road is soft so spread your tracks out to prevent ruts. Only the last km still is covered with compact snow ice mix. No new snow at lot Temps from +5 to -5' c 3 vehicles in lot. You probally won't need chains but carry them incase you get stuck in parking lot. Please post a report and pictures when you come down.
