mt.steele Current Conditions Wednesday, May 04, 2011
Deb and I were up to steele for Sat. night. You don't need chains to get to the parking lot. Skiied up through new snow, no one had been past Edwards since the 17th. Tough slog through breakable crust with snow falling late in the day, skinned up and made a run down in very skechy breaking crust. Had a great sunset and the cabin to ourselves. Sun. we yo-yoed the hill a couple of times with frozen crust/ skiiable.. The cabin was buried with snow almost up to the peak and had to shovel away snow before we could dig our way down to the door. The cabin was in great shape.Left just as some snowshoers arrived. Great weekend.

Edwards cabin Current Conditions Sunday, May 15, 2011
Five of us went up to Edwards yesterday by ski and snowshoes. Slushy snow going in, slushier snow going out. Trail was easy to follow, even in low cloud and misty conditions. We found, and left, the cabin spotless (apart from a few mice droppings). The fuelwood is running low, virtually none in the cellar and the bin is only three quarters full. Two metres of snow at the cabin, they'll be a few more weeks of snow left yet!

still plenty of snow in tet Current Conditions Tuesday, May 17, 2011
As of today you can still get across all the creeks above the parking lot but a couple of the lower ones will probably melt out soon. Snow is nice spring pack in places and soft and mushy in others. There were bear tracks heading up from the parking lot and fresh bear scat on the trail.
